Why This Exists

Rail information is scattered, and much of it is wrong

Anyone who has tried to plan a train journey across the United States, or work out British ticket types from overseas, knows the problem. The authoritative information exists, but it is spread across carrier sites, timetable PDFs, forum threads and pages that were last accurate three timetable changes ago.

We built this site to put the useful parts in one place and write them in plain English: which services connect which cities, what each class of travel actually includes, how stations are laid out, what the accessibility schemes involve, and what a long-distance journey is genuinely like once the train moves.

Some people would rather ask than read. That is what the phone line is for.

What we are

AGENCY 54, LLC is a limited liability company registered in Florida, operating from 927 Tan Tara TRL, Jacksonville, FL 32221. Railway Travel is its trading name for this website and the associated information line.

We are an independent information service. We are not Amtrak, VIA Rail, Eurostar, National Rail, Brightline or any train operating company, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or acting as an agent of any of them.

What we are not

This is the part most sites in this space leave vague, so we will be blunt about it. We do not:

  • Sell train tickets or any other travel product
  • Issue reservations, bookings or travel documents
  • Accept, hold or process payments of any kind
  • Access carrier reservation systems or booking records
  • Amend, cancel or refund anybody's reservation
  • Operate, control or influence any train service

If you have already booked something and need it changed, we cannot help directly — but call us anyway and we will help you work out who can.

How we are paid

You pay us nothing. The website is free and the information line is free.

Our revenue comes from referral and advertising arrangements with third parties. If you ask to be connected to an independent travel provider who can handle a reservation, we may receive a referral commission for that call, at no additional cost to you. We may also earn affiliate commissions on certain links and advertising revenue.

A commission is not an endorsement. We do not verify or supervise third-party providers, and we would encourage you to satisfy yourself about any company before transacting with them — including asking them to confirm all fees before you hand over payment details. This is set out in full in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Booking directly is always an option

You do not need us, or anyone we might connect you to, in order to travel by train. Every carrier we write about sells directly to the public through its own website, phone line and stations — and doing so is often the simplest course. We would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.

What we will not do

  • Claim to be a carrier, or let you believe we are one
  • Publish testimonials, star ratings or review counts we cannot substantiate
  • Promise savings, discounts or fares we have no ability to guarantee
  • Present a commercial arrangement as an editorial recommendation
  • Take a payment from you — there is nothing here to pay for
  • Pressure you. Hang up at any point, at no cost, with no follow-up
How We Work

Four commitments

Say what we are

The independence disclosure appears on every page of this site, above the fold, before any call to action — not buried in the footer.

Editorial independence

Which routes and stations we cover, and what we say about them, are editorial decisions. No commercial arrangement changes them.

Claims we can stand behind

No invented statistics, no testimonials we did not collect, no savings percentages we cannot substantiate. If we cannot evidence it, we do not publish it.

Accessible by default

The site targets WCAG 2.1 AA, and the phone line exists precisely so that reading a website is never the only way to get an answer.
